At Reston Aesthetics, our providers are pleased to offer aesthetic and overall health and wellness solutions to men and women in and around Centerville, Virginia. This includes hormone replacement therapy. Our team is pleased to offer this treatment with hormone pellet injections, which often raises a variety of questions from our patients. Let’s look at some frequently asked questions about this service Dr. George Iskander and his team offer.
Hormone replacement therapy with pellet injections involves tiny, rice-sized pellets placed right under the skin. These pellets release bioidentical hormones steadily over time, helping to balance hormone levels and alleviate symptoms including increased fatigue, mood swings, and low libido.
The pellets are inserted via a tiny incision, usually in the hip or buttocks area, during a quick and simple procedure. It’s done under local anesthesia, so most of our patients feel little to no discomfort during the process. Plus, no stitches required!
Pellets typically last between three to six months, depending on your metabolism and needs. They deliver consistent hormone levels and eliminate the need for daily pills or messy creams.

Anyone experiencing hormone imbalances may benefit, including men and women dealing with symptoms of menopause, andropause, or other hormonal changes. It can help with energy, mood stability, mental clarity, and sexual health.
While side effects are uncommon, some patients may experience temporary redness or soreness at the insertion site. Rarely, mild acne or hair growth changes may occur as your body adjusts to the therapy. Dr. Iskander monitors your progress to ensure the best results.
Yes! The hormones used in pellet therapy are derived from natural sources and are designed to match the hormones your body produces. When prescribed and monitored by a healthcare professional, bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (or BHRT) is both safe and effective.
Many of our patients notice improvements in energy, mood, and overall well-being within a few weeks of starting pellet therapy. Other benefits, like improved sleep or libido, might take a little longer to manifest.
Many of our patients continue with their existing medications or treatments alongside pellet therapy. Be sure to discuss your full medical history with Dr. Iskander and his team so they can tailor the therapy to your unique needs.
